Montreal is….a gourmand’s heaven!

In the last few weeks, as part of our International Food Festival, we’ve tested our French and English skills, and our palates in a wide array of different restaurants and food markets in Montreal. The French cultural influence and the influence of various immigrant groups to the city mean Montreal has a wealth of flavours available to the food lover.

So far on our culinary tour, we’ve had some local specialties like Poutine, at La Banquise:

Beaver tails (Queues de Castor), smothered in Nutella, maple butter or cinnamon and sugar, in the Old Port:

An Iranian brunch at Byblos, complete with omelets, a choice of breads and jams and  strong Arabic coffee and Iranian tea:

We sampled fruit, fresh local apple juice, still-warm chocolate bread, cheeses and Italian coffee on our tour of Petite-Italie and Marche Jean-Talon:

We’ve shared food with friends, had explosions of flavours in our mouths,  had continents pass over our tongues, and yet…it still feels like we’ve barely skimmed the surface of what Montreal has to offer! We’ll be back with more impressions of culinary Montreal soon.
